FAQ
Frequently asked questions
If something isn't covered here, email us and a person will reply.
The calls
What languages are supported?
Malayalam and English are ready to go today. Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Tagalog and Mandarin we set up on request, usually within a few days of you asking. If your parent's language isn't on that list at all, tell us anyway — the list grows with the families who ask.
Which countries can you call?
Anywhere your parent has a phone, landlines included. Tell us where they live when you join the waitlist, and we confirm coverage for their number before your first call.
Does my parent need a smartphone or internet?
No. It's a regular phone call to any number, including a basic landline or feature phone.
Can I pause calls for a day?
Yes. Each parent profile has a "skip today" switch for hospital visits, travel, or any other reason.
What happens if something seems wrong during a call?
If the conversation suggests a possible emergency — a fall, chest pain, feeling unsafe — you get an immediate email with your emergency contact shown, and the caller gently suggests calling family or local emergency services.
AI or a real person
What's the difference between the two?
The AI companion is available now: it calls at the same time every day, in your parent's language, and costs one credit a call. A real person — a nurse for health check-ins, or a friendly companion for conversation — is opening soon, a few families at a time, and costs more credits because it's someone's time. Both follow the same schedule, add to the same memory notebook, and send you the same summary and urgent alerts.
Who are the people, and how are they vetted?
They're recruited and paid by us, not a marketplace of strangers. Before anyone is put in front of a family we check government photo ID, take two references, and for anyone offered as a nurse we verify their nursing registration. Everyone signs a confidentiality agreement covering what they see and hear. We'll say plainly when a check hasn't been done rather than imply one has.
How do you decide who calls my parent?
You tell us what you're after — nurse or friendly companion, the language your parent is most comfortable in, whether they'd prefer a man or a woman, and what they like to talk about — and we match someone from the team by hand. You see who it is before the first call, and you can ask for someone else.
Can I switch between the AI and a real person later?
Yes. It's a setting on your parent's profile, not a different account. Some families start with the AI companion for the daily rhythm and add a real person once a week; that's a good use of it.
Is a call from a real person transcribed?
No. Nothing is recorded or transcribed on those calls — the companion writes the summary afterwards: how your parent sounded, whether medication was taken, and anything you should follow up on. It lands in the same place as an AI call summary.
Privacy
Is the call recorded?
No audio recording is stored in this version of the product. An AI companion call is transcribed as text so a summary can be generated; a call from a real person isn't transcribed at all.
Can I delete all my data?
Yes, any time, from your account settings. Deleting your account removes your profile and every parent, call, and note associated with it.
Account and cost
How much does it cost?
RingThru is free during the beta. Every account starts with 10 free call credits, and you can request more from your settings page.
